Getting what you want in life - YOU have the steering wheel !
We all want to set ourselves challenges and achieve the goals we set ourselves, in order to improve our work & personal life, but it is all too easy to forget, when things aren’t going so well, that ‘YOU have the steering wheel to your life!’
You have the will to better yourself. You are the only one holding you back. You will come up with excuses at times as to why you can’t do something, but the key to success is to challenge yourself to view things differently.
We all set goals, no matter how big or how small; our goals seem to systematically underlie all our behaviour.
Anthony Robbins has a four stage success model which he says can be applied to all our behaviour achievements:
Stage One
Decide what it is you really want, set your goals and make them worthwhile.
Stage Two
Do something positive. Write your goals down as a starting point, and act as if this new life is already yours. (Visualisation)
Stage Three
Notice what happens. Evaluate the effects of achieving your goal(s) in an honest way.
Stage Four
Change what you do until you get your desired outcome. (This may mean stepping out of your comfort zone!!)
Be positive and ask yourself:
- What do I want to achieve? - Why do I want to achieve it? - What will achieving this give me? - What do I need to change in order to achieve it? - How do I see myself doing it? - What is the outcome I want? - What have I already successfully achieved that is similar to this? - What form does the similarity take? - Might anything get in the way of achieving my goal(s)? - What will the change allow me to do? - What difference will that make to me? - Does it depend on me or someone/something else? - What can I do immediately and what will it enable me to do?

The Sanscrit saying ‘The Essence of Destiny‘ sums it all up perfectly:

Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Choose your words, for they become actions. Understand your actions, for they become habits. Study your habits, for they will become your character. Develop your character, for it becomes your destiny.
Every day we are creating our future. What future will you choose to create?

Progress report on our African Project ....
Lynn and I have been in touch with a few agencies which have not proved to be very fruitful but we are also putting together our ideas for fundraising events, the first of which will be a BODY SHOP party with all proceeds going to the charity that we are currently in the process of setting up.
In spite of a busy month doing lots of socialising, the weight is still coming off for my sponsored slim (just 2 lbs this month; 18lbs in total) so PLEASE keep those pledges coming in!
On a final note, this newsletter is written with YOU in mind, so if there is anything you would like to see included in future months, please contact me & let me know.
Wishing you a good and productive month.
